Pantea Serv Impex is a workshop that does windows and mirrors works and one can find it in the back of the courtyard that has the entrance on Ion Mihalache Bvd. Opened since 1992, it has managed to be different that the other same trade workshops because it can do a high and divers number of orders. Starting with all kinds of glass and ending with all sorts of mirrors.

This workshop of furniture and upholstery called “Mobila si Tapiţerie” is right on the Ion Mihalache Bvd. Mrs Oana is the one who has greeted with a firendly smile the clients in the past 20 years. The trade is arduous that is why you need to know team work, otherwise hammers hit thumbs not nails. The workshop has all age groups clients, but Mrs Oane would like if more young people would consider this kraft as a job.

Artim Tailor Shop has moved here in Crângaşi after having for many years the address on Ion Mihalache Bvd, where one can still see hanged on the wall the beautiful burgundy volumetric letters of the frontispiece. The team of the workshop has remained the same and is rady to welcome new customers. Both women and men touch ups, both not so ordinary and day to day touch ups are all done at time and thouroughly.  

Looking from the street, Mrs Delia’s place looks just like an ordinary haberdasery (notion) shop: sewing threads, buttons, ribbons, but here one can find not only this. Mrs Delia is very talented in using knitting needles, that is why she makes a lot of kids knitted clothing and accessories. Foe exaple, a special bag for keeping knitting needles (so they don’t tangle).  

Very close to the Romana Sqare, on Mihai Eminescu St is located since many years a fur shop, very known by those living in the neighbourhood. Behind the orange drapes, the sewing machines redo, modify al sorts of furs. At a first glance the place can look closed, but Mrs Gheorghita works here Monday to Friday from 10-18. The welcoming guest is just like in the old-fashioned workshops, in a different place than the actual workshop where the furs are taken care of, reconditioned, where the old grandma fur gets a new life.

In Piata Romana, right in the back of the flower shop from the columns area, there isn’t just your ordinary watch repair shop, there is a truly pasionate watch mender, Mr Dan, thathas been doing this job for more than 30 years. You can easily say this about most of the watchmenders, but if you take a close look in the shop you will notice coackroaces, buuls, bees, ships, placed neatly on the counter, like true sculptures made entierly out of reused watch parts. It’s impossible to do this without rigor, atention and a lot of patience and Mr Dan does it out of passion. “Even in a silly test from the internet – what were you in an after life- my husband turn out to be again a watchmender” jokeingly said the wife of Mr Dan.  

Mendeleev street is protected by the noise of Magheru Bvd, but has a lot of advantages because it’s vecinity. Next to all the coffee shops here we can find the tailor shop where Mr Alexandru has been working for more than 60 years. The shop keeps the old rules, where the sewing machines are in the back, so the clients can’t see them. In front, where all the orderes are taken, on a mannequin, stands a jacket that tells how skilled the tailor is. Made from scratch, not missing any phase, for a somebody that is not accustomed with details, may seem not a big deal. But just take a closer look to the buttonhole,  

Mrs. Grecu worked at Artim cooperative since its begining, back when the inhabitants of Bucharest were wearing tailor-made costumes and the shelves of the workshop were filled with fabrics and orders. She has been assigned to various units of the cooperative, and she arrived in the Iuliu Maniu unit a year ago. All well and good, only customers not too many, because once you change the location the customers stay in their place and find something closer to home.

Mr. Vasile is a curious cobbler, willing to learn and adapt to the demands of today’s fashion. Customers come mostly in autumn and winter, because footwear that is worth keeping and repairing is closely linked to how covered your foot is against rain, wind and everything between. Mr. Vasile works has been a cobbler for 28 years and recenly he became an independent cobbler, with owb workshop.

A tailoring workshop that doesn’t follow a typical pattern. Alongside small touch-ups done by diligent tailorwomen, the main specialization of this workshop are work uniforms. White, orange, red of blue, they can be combined, matched and adjusted on the spot.

We all have around the house a watch from our grandparents or perhaps gifted from someone close to us, perhaps bought by ourselves. Whether you change its battery, or its strap, its face or service the whole watch , Mr. Andrei is the perfect craftsman for it. He follows the family tradition, continuing the craft practised by his father. Crammed between a food store and a photocopying place, you need agile eyes to spot it.

It is difficult to imagine that just walking on Iiuliu Maniu Bvd one can have the feeling of being on a runway in Italy. But by stepping inside Mon atelier de creatie vestimentara si retusuri (My shop for creating and retouching clothes) the situation becomes a little different. Here the tailors don’t just retouch your clothes, they also have all the skills to create from scratch suits, dresses, with the client’s fabric, that can easlily run in the capital of fashion. They have been working in Italy for famous clothing brands for more than 15 years, but their dream was to open their own shop and come back to Romania. Now they are hiring another tailor.
